Chili Publisher updated to v4.5

Chili Publish has released the latest v4.5 update of its Chili Publisher web to print software.

New features include the ability to allow customers to apply 3D folding for alternate layouts. This means that each layout design, can immediately be verified in 3D folding to check if it will work in terms of dimensions. 3D folding and 3D models will also be available in HTML via a standalone viewer but now delivers the URL of an HTML based 3D view rather than a Flash-based 3D viewer.

The new version also gains enhanced copy fitting features across multiple non-linked frames. This allows users to apply the same copy fitting style percentages to all of the text frames, ensuring consistent font sizes throughout the document. This is particularly important to packaging, where mandatory nutrition and regulatory data must be translated into several languages, with each taking up different amounts of space. Copy fitting adjusts the font size to accommodate for the difference in space without impacting the uniform design of the package.

There’s a new Dynamic Asset Provider framework enables the use of dynamic images from external sources via a “URL feed” in the Editor. These dynamic images can be updated in real-time through variable information provided by the Chili Publisher Editor. This could also mean updating Excel files charts and diagrams.

Other new features include support for the Google Drive API, the option to specify different folding settings for alternate layouts and the ability to synchronize files on different servers.

Chili Publisher 4.5 is available now – further details from www.chili-publish.com.

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.

However, there are costs involved in travelling to cover events, as well as maintaining this site, not to mention the time that it takes to carry out research, check facts and interview people. So if you value this work, then please help to maintain it and keep it free to read.
