Chili Publish raises €2.55m funding

Chili Publish, which has developed a solution to allow marketing documents to be designed and edited online, has secured €2.55 million in a round of Series A funding from Volta Ventures as well as Pamica and Group MC.

Chili Publish uses a browser-based interface for editing documents online.

The company will use the money for the further expansion of the international sales team, R&D efforts and marketing optimization. Kevin Goeminne, CEO of CHILI publish explains: “We’ve established quite an exponential growth. In six years’ time, we have serviced no less than 250 customers in over 25 countries in markets like commercial print and packaging, including brand owners and agencies. And yet, more is to be done. We know this investment support will further spur the opportunities for online editing out there.”

The genius behind Chili Publish is that it works in just about any browser and is fairly simple to use. It integrates into various workflow and business management platforms for eCommerce and asset management and can show users a personalized interface coupled with a scalable set-up. It has several useful features including a 3D visualization tool, generating a direct 3D assessment of the final marketing output. There’s also Chili Rendro, which is a PDF rendering solution.

The three company founders will retain the majority of the shares, while Michel Akkermans, Chairman Shareholder Advisory Board & Venture Partner at Volta Ventures, will join the Board of Directors.

He explained: ““The solutions come with an open API, meaning they can be integrated in just about any company that spots the added value of the Chili publish solutions. This is an interesting business model that will allow Chili publish to extend its reach even beyond its roots in the graphic arts sector. Our goal is to help the company mature to their full potential and we hope that our tech insights and market experience will prove valuable assets.”

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.
