New Mutoh dye sub DrafStation

Mutoh has launched a new dye sublimation transfer printer, the DrafStation RJ-900XG. It’s a CMYK 1080mm wide roll-fed printer and is aimed at typical textile applications such as banners, flags, soft signage, interior decoration and sportswear.

It can run from 5 to 18.5 sqm/h. Resolution is up to 2880 dpi and the print head is capable of firing drops from 3.4 pl up to 49.5 pl. It takes both two and three-inch cores and prints to transfer papers up to 95gsm. The printer comes with a stand and a non-motorised roll-off system. There’s an optional motorised winder system that takes media rolls up to 30 kg and which will roll-up finished prints.

Mutoh claims ‘top scores’ in wash fastness, rubbing and perspiration. Images can be transferred to polyester objects, mixed fibre fabrics (minimum 80 % polyester) or onto polyester coated objects such as mugs, cups, mouse pads or even snowboards.

It’s designed to work with Mutoh’s water-based DS2-series CMYK inks but is also compatible with Mutoh’s regular water-based dye and pigmented inks for indoor and short term outdoor graphics. The inks come in 1 litre bottles and can be loaded into refillable cassettes or into Mutoh’s optional bulk ink system.

It’s sold via dealers but should be priced at around €3,990.

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.
