EFI updates PrintSmith Vision MIS

EFI has released version 3.0 of its PrintSmith Vision MIS. It features new HTML5 mobile views to let users see work-in-process, view job statuses or check arriving shipments remotely.

There are also new dashboards to display information specific to the logged-in user, such as orders entered by that user and a list of pending estimates that can be opened from the dashboard and converted into orders.

There’s a bunch of other improvements, such as the ability to log details of customer discussions and to manage purchase orders. The scheduling module has been enhanced with better job tracking and it’s now possible to preview PDF, JPG and PNG files.

The software also comes with new tools to schedule automatic backups of the database. Naturally, it also integrates with EFI’s Fiery servers and Digital Storefront web to print system, which gives real-time, bidirectional status updates.

PrintSmith Vision is browser-based and targeted mainly at smaller printshops, franchises and in-plant facilities. It includes most of the standard features that you would expect of an MIS, such as estimating, point-of-sale, account management, production management, receivables and sales analysis tools.

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.

Journalism is only really useful if it’s truly independent and this is the only such news source serving the print/ manufacturing sectors.

However, there are costs involved in travelling to cover events, as well as maintaining this site, not to mention the time that it takes to carry out research, check facts and interview people. So if you value this work, then please help to maintain it and keep it free to read.
