    Actega has introduced a new range of water-based barrier coatings under its ActGreen brand name that should offer a more sustainable alternative to using plastic polyethylene (PE) laminates in packaging.

    Esko has bought Blue Software, a label and artwork management software company based in Chicago, Illinois, USA, in order to extend its packaging workflow offering.

  • Rondo tests Primefire for pharmaceutical use

    The Swiss pharmaceutical converter Rondo AG, based in Allschwil near Basel, has installed a B1 Heidelberg Primefire 106 inkjet press and is currently beta testing it for use in pharmaceutical packaging.

  • New Solution develops Memjet corrugated printer

    New Solution Engineering, which appears to be the Portuguese company formerly known as Mtex, has announced that its first flatbed digital corrugated printer, the NS Multi-LG, which was first shown at last month’s Fespa show, is now available.

  • US converter ePac invests in EB curing

    The American converter ePac Flexible Packaging is to install an electron beam curing system at its facility in Madison, Wisconsin, USA later this year to work in conjunction with a B2 HP Indigo 20000, which prints to flexible films.

  • New flexo colour libraries added to PantoneLive

    Sun Chemical has worked with Pantone and its subsidiary X-Rite to develop six new libraries for UV flexo inks for PantoneLive.

  • Kodak and Uteco launch Sapphire Evo digital press

    Uteco has announced a new hybrid digital press, the Sapphire Evo, aimed at packaging converters and using Kodak’s Stream inkjet technology. It was first shown as a technology demonstration back at Drupa 2016 and is now commercially available.

  • Esko releases WebCenter 18 for packaging management

    Esko has updated its WebCenter packaging management solution with the release of version 18. This is aimed at both brand owners and converters and is said to offer users more control and visibility over their packaging preproduction specification, approval and project life cycle.

  • X-Rite and Flint partner over colour solution

    Flint Group’s Paper & Board business unit has set up a colour communication service and signed a deal with X-Rite to supply its eXact and NetProfiler colour tools for this.

  • Color-Logic certifies Indigo 6900 with silver

    Last year HP Indigo introduced a new silver ink for its Indigo 6900 web fed press that’s a lot more effective than the previous silver, which was more like a dull grey colour. Color-Logic has now certified the 6900 with this new silver ink for use with its own Process Metallic Color System.

  • Sappi updates hot seal packaging paper

  • Color-Logic certifies Indigo 30000

    Color-Logic, which mainly produces software for printing special effects, has certified HP Indigo’s B2 30000 digital press for metallic carton applications.  The Indigo 30000 was specifically developed for folding carton applications.
