Synertec buys 85 Canon C850 presses

Consultancy firm Synertec has ordered a whopping 85 Canon ImagePress C850 dry toner sheetfed presses in a deal that took 15 months to complete and will be worth around £5 million over three years.

Synertec runs a fleet of Canon’s ImagePress C850 at its Bristol site.

Synertec has over 500 clients in various industries and specialises in outsourced communication including printing, folding and mailing, alongside electronic distribution of time-critical correspondence for the private sector and NHS patient communication. Synertec’s turnover is expected to grow in excess of 20 percent annually. It currently produces around 14 million impressions per month on the C850s.

Mark Baldock, Managing Director of Synertec, said: “Our rapid growth created the need to re-evaluate our print offering. We needed to expand capacity and invest wisely. The Canon systems give us massive increases in productivity, improved efficiencies and more throughput. This investment is a major step forward for us. The deal has opened new doors to develop business opportunities and increase print volumes as well. We are already seeing time-savings of up to three hours a day in productivity.”

The C850 is a light duty production press that takes media up to SRA3 and 300gsm even for duplex printing and offers 2400 x 2400 dpi resolution. It can produce 65 A4 ppm, which equates to a recommended monthly volume of around 150,000 pages.

The first of these machines has been installed at the company’s headquarters in Wellington, Somerset with the rest of the order split between its production sites in Bristol and Warrington.

Duncan Smith, director of Industrial and Production Solutions at Canon UK, said: “There’s a world of opportunity within printing for our customers and their feedback is vital in helping us to develop new solutions. We’ve learned a significant amount from working closely with Synertec as their customers require personalised content, short print runs, just-in-time print delivery and greater cost-effectiveness.”
