Roland is to launch two new UV flatbed printers at the Sign and Digital show. The VersaUV LEJ-640F will be Roland’s first wide format flatbed printer. It has a print area of 1600 x 2500mm wide, and take media up to 150mm in height and up to 200kg.
There are six ink channels and it takes both white and transparent inks as well as CMYK. The inks can be configured with two sets of white, two of gloss, or one channel each for the white and gloss inks, which will obviously affect the production speed. The transparent ink can be layered to create textures and embossing effects. You can also use it for striking gloss and matte finishes. Resolution is up to 1440 x 1440 dpi.
Roland will also show the VersaUV LEF-20, a desktop machine for printing to a range of small objects such as promotional items, novelty gifts, souvenirs, awards, USB sticks and phone cases.
