Roland releases Soljet EJ640 wide format printer

Roland has launched a new wide format solvent printer, the Soljet EJ-640. It boasts dual staggered print heads and an integrated tri-heater system that dries ink quickly to allow immediate take up, allowing for immediate storage if required.

It can take up to seven colours, including light cyan, light magenta and light black as well as CMYK. It can also be configured with two sets of CMYK inks to achieve speeds of up to 102 sqm/h. In 4-colour CMYK mode, up to two litres of ink can be loaded for each colour and automatically switch between cartridges so that the printer can run continuously. It uses a new EJ ink, which is supplied in 1-litre ink cartridges.

Roland claims that it’s been designed to offer both high productivity and lower ink costs. There’s a high strength media shaft to hold heavy media rolls securely and a newly developed Feed Adjuster to take the substrates smoothly through the printer and onto the take-up system.

It includes Roland OnSupport, which sends email to your smart phone, tablet or computer to notify the machine operator when a job is finished or ink is running low. It also comes with Roland VersaWorks Dual RIP software, which can handle both PDF and PostScript files natively, including files with transparencies.

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.

However, there are costs involved in travelling to cover events, as well as maintaining this site, not to mention the time that it takes to carry out research, check facts and interview people. So if you value this work, then please help to maintain it and keep it free to read.
