Heidelberg is hosting a head to head between two Speedmaster B2 presses, one running LE-UV and the other conventional, as part of its Hei Tech Challenge Open House.
Two B2 Speedmaster presses, the SX 74 LE-UV and the XL 75, will perform side by side on jobs using different stocks so that the colour and quality results can be compared objectively. Heidelberg will reveal the process and maintenance considerations and the real life cost comparisons between the two processes.
There are only 50 places for each of the four Hei Tech Challenge tours and so printers are advised to be quick to pre-register – go to the Heidelberg UK events site or http://www.heievents.co.uk/event.php?e=2
Other presentations include ways to add value to a traditional print business and a look at the new version of the ISO 12647-2 colour standard.
Heidelberg will also launch a series of new colour management contracts. There are several levels – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze – offering a mix of service levels from a full certification through to a colour health analysis to run a press at agreed colour targets. Paul Chamberlain, who heads up the Heidelberg colour team, explains: “We have 22 Heidelberg ISO 12647-2 certified printers in the UK and anticipating adding another 50% over the coming year but we also believe that some of those with certification (and others without) will want to have the broader PCM service. Colour remains a critical issue with the recent legislative changes.”
The Open House takes place at the national showroom in Brentford on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 November 2014. It will run from 9am to 5pm (4pm on Thursday) with a buffet style lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
