Global Graphics offers inkjet expertise

Global Graphics is offering a new software and engineering services package, called Fundamentals, to companies developing inkjet presses who don’t necessarily have a complete software development team of their own.

It is a combination of engineering and software, based on Global Graphics’ Harlequin RIP and many years of experience in developing front end software tuned to the hardware of a given device. A big part of this service is Global Graphics’ Breakthrough team of colour scientists, screening experts and RIP technologists.

Naturally it will include access to Global Graphics’ software, including the Harlequin RIP and ScreenPro multi-level screening. Martin Bailey, CTO of Global Graphics, says that the company will work with other partners that a press vendor might already have and that there’s no need to use Harlequin if the vendor prefers otherwise.

Fundamentals will also be able to draw on applications from Hybrid Software, which is linked to Global Graphics through Guido Van der Schueren, the chairman of both companies. This includes an OEM version of Hybrid’s CloudFlow for file management that can be branded and customized to each press and is configured specifically for inkjet label and packaging workflows.

Eric Worrall, who heads up the Global Graphics’ Breakthrough team, explained: “We felt that it would be better if they could go to one source so that all the components would work together. So we have bundled together the best of breeds.”

Bailey says that Global Graphics has been working with Hybrid to develop “something close to a complete DFE”. He says: “Its not an off the shelf product but a collection of components we know work well together so that we can work with a press vendor to build a basic system for them.”

This approach also allows the press vendor to badge the DFE as their own and to ensure that the final product is tuned specifically around the needs of a given press.
