Replique goes its own way

The German company Replique, which specialises in additive manufacturing, has successfully spun itself off from Chemovator, following a round of funding led by STS Ventures.

Replique has developed a fully encrypted 3D printing platform that enables OEMs to store parts digitally and provide them on-demand to customers. The company has signed up 80 print farms worldwide who can fulfil these orders, giving those OEMs an easy way to manage their spare parts inventory and produce parts in short runs.

The company was founded by Dr. Henrike Wonneberger and Dr. Max Siebert who both worked for BASF in material science and digitization. Dr Siebert explained: “Our platform is designed to bring part management into the 21st century, and our approach has already proven its worth. We’re excited to build on this momentum with the support of our new investors and partners.”

Chemovator, which is owned by BASF SE, was set up in 2018. It has a good record with start-up companies, having successfully spun off five now. Replique now becomes an independent company and will be a customer of BASF, and will work with BASF 3D Printing Solutions as one of its material partners.

STS Ventures is an experienced early-stage investor. Other investors include Chameleon GmbH and R3 consulting & investment GmbH who have experience in machinery and data business.

Dr Wonneberger commented: ”We’re thrilled to have successfully spun off from Chemovator and to have secured ourselves the support of such prominent investors, who have a strong experience in scaling start-ups and bring the strategic expertise to internationalize our business in an efficient way.”

Oliver Kaul, partner at STS Ventures, explained: “We see a lot of startups with promising ideas, but Replique stood out to us as a game-changer in the manufacturing industry. Their innovative industrial 3D printing platform has the potential to disrupt the industry and we are excited to support their growth and expansion in the future. Besides the right solution, Replique also brings the right mindset and an excellent team to the table.”

Wonneberger concluded: “We look forward to working closely together to achieve our goal of becoming the world’s greatest digital inventory for on-demand parts.”
