Virgin Media introduces digital POS signage

Virgin Media has teamed up with Espirit Digital to show point of sale digital signs in its shops that can be viewed in bright sunlight. The first of these screens has already been installed in Virgin’s Oxford Street store in London, and Virgin has said that it will use the screens in all of its shops over the next month.
Although digital screens have been widely used indoors in shops for some time, their use in front windows has been limited due to problems with reading the screens in bright sunlight, as well as bleaching.
Paul Williams, Retail Director for Virgin Media said: “We’re delighted to be the first retailer to fully embrace this technology. These bespoke screens from Esprit are a key part of our strategy to attract new customers and drive them into our stores. The brightness and clarity are excellent.”

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.

However, there are costs involved in travelling to cover events, as well as maintaining this site, not to mention the time that it takes to carry out research, check facts and interview people. So if you value this work, then please help to maintain it and keep it free to read.
