Uteco to demonstrate Thallo sleeve press

Uteco is to host an open house event in June to show off the new Thallo press. The Thallo press has been developed by DG Press Machines, which has partnered with Uteco for sales and distribution.

The Thallo is a modular press that has been developed to allow web offset printing of flexible packaging films. The major advantage is the web offset allows for high line screens with quality to match gravure printing but at lower costs.

A Thallo printing deck was shown at Labelexpo Europe 2013 and a two colour 850 prototype was demonstrated at the end of last year. It’s scheduled to be officially launched at the Drupa 2016 show. It comes in web widths of 520mm, 850mm and 1,050mm and has repeat lengths from 406mm to 762mm. It can handle papers and films between 10-200 microns.

The open house takes place at the DG press facility in Holland, 16-17 June and will feature both a five and seven colour Thallo press. These beta machines have already been sold to Wesselink Drukwerk BV in the Netherlands and Vuye Flexible Packaging in Belgium.
