Epson recycles office paper

Epson has developed a machine that can recycle shredded copy paper into new paper suitable for office use. The PaperLab is a reasonably compact machine that’s meant to sit in an office and will give companies the ability to securely destroy old documents and turn them into new paper, without having to send the papers away or employ a specialist service provider. Mohawk, a US manufacturer of fine papers, has partnered with Arjowiggins Creative Papers with the two paper manufacturers sharing best-in-class manufacturing capabilities, facilities, technologies, sales and marketing resources and expertise. As part of this Mohawk has granted Arjowiggins Creative Papers exclusive rights to manufacture its Superfine paper and to use its proprietary i-Tone treatment for digital printing. VTT develops paper-based drug test

The Finnish research group VTT has developed a drug test printed on paper. This is a relatively cheap way of producing such tests, suitable to high volume production and allows for a rapid analysis as to whether a compound – in this case, morphine – is present in a given sample.
