ABN AMRO Participaties, the independently managed private equity business of ABN AMRO, has acquired the Dutch firm MPS, best known for its range of narrow web flexo presses. The company had been owned by majority shareholder Braver Investments, Oost NL as well as Bert van den Brink and Eric Hoendervangers, who founded the company back in 1996. The use of fixed palette printing or extended colour gamuts is becoming more widespread in flexo printing. Earlier this year I visited a customer event at Bobst Bielefeld and listened to some of the arguments in favour of printing with a seven colour inkset.

Bobst has been showing off its latest wide web flexo press, the 20Seven, which is based heavily on the existing 20Six but with a number of enhanced features designed specifically to tackle the growing interest in printing with extended colour gamut inksets.

Bobst has announced a new series of inline flexo presses, the M8. This builds on the existing narrow web presses, but is really a mid-web press, with web widths up to 1070mm.
