Onyx updates RIP software

Onyx Graphics has updated its wide format RIP software to v12.2. This software drives the entire Onyx product line including the Thrive workflow and ProductionHouse, PosterShop and RIPCenter RIPs.

Onyx Graphics has updated its core software to v12.2 with better information taken from wide format printers, such as the media rolls loaded.

Onyx has improved the overall speed with faster RIP and data transfer speeds as well as optimised colour calculations across all applications. The new version gains a new a live view of loaded media with automated roll selection between jobs in the RIP queue, plus the ability to see device-specific information such as ink levels, printer status and media information from the printer. The Media and Page Size handling has been improved to streamline printer configurations and job setup, and the RIP now takes job scaling and rotation information directly from the file-open dialogue before sending jobs to the RIP queue, which should improve the overall productivity. There are also improvements to cutting workflows so that Onyx can now handle multiple cut-path prefixes as well as duplicating cutter device settings for greater automation.

There’s also support for Konica Minolta’s FD9 Autoscan Spectrophotometer. This is a reasonably fast, fully automated chart reader, which has proven popular in industrial applications.

The Onyx 12.2 software is available now.

You can license the articles from Printing and Manufacturing Journal to reproduce in other publications. I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.
