OneVision updates automation software to v18.2

The German developer of prepress software, OneVision, has updated its core software to v18.2, adding greater automation to its main programs, Workspace, Asura and Amendo.

OneVision has tidied up the assembly lines in Workspace 18.2

Of these, Workspace is a workflow management tool that can be used to link different production processes to create an automated system. OneVision has tidied up the assembly lines used to create these workflows. These assembly lines can now be structured with the help of phases. Workspace Pro, which can automatically route files through different processes, now gains support for XPath. Users can now dynamically overwrite the settings of each module based on attributes at runtime and thus design their workflow flexibly according to the individual requirements.

Asura, which checks and optimizes files, gains a new feature – Convert complex pages into images – which converts pages with large amounts of graphics and/or images into a single image to reduce the time taken to process these pages. OneVision has also improved the nesting, tiling & paneling so that labels cut with a conventional cutting machine can now be nested. The Tile pages module can automatically divide page formats that are larger than the maximum print format into printable individual pages. Improvements to the Barcode module give greater flexibility in placing barcodes.

The image optimization software Amendo now gives users a choice of preconfigured best practice workflows for an automatic image workflow. Amendo processes images in the assembly lines, applying the optimization steps necessary to achieve optimal effects for each magazine style. The Amendo Processor feature can be used to process files without optimization for faster results.

These programs themselves form the core of OneVision’s Automation Suites, with different flavours for wide format, book and label printing. You can find further details on this at onevision.com.

I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.
