Cristex invests in Zund cutter

Cristex Composites Materials, which supplies high-performance fibres and fabrics for the UK composites and reinforced plastics markets, has bought a Zund G3 L3200 cutting table to improve its productivity.

Zund’s G3 cutting table can be used with a wide range of materials.

Phil Smith, CAD/CAM Technician from Cristex, explained: “One of the main reasons we chose the Zünd was the ability to configure the machine on size, width and tooling to meet our exact requirements. This has enabled us to offer our customers a tailored cutting service whilst exploring new business opportunities, thanks to the variety of tooling options available. Running at speeds of up to 1.4 metres per second while offering repeatability of +/- 0.03mm, the Zünd G3 can keep pace with the growing needs of our various market sectors.”

Cristex, which was formed in 1990, is based in Blackburn in the UK. The company supplies a wide range of products manufactured from a variety of materials incuding Glass Fibre (E.C.S. ECR), Carbon fibre, Aramid, Dyneema, Thermoplastic (nylon, polyester etc.) and natural fibres. Customers come from the automotive, aerospace, marine and technical textile markets.

Smith added: “Our focus is composites and with that comes very challenging textiles – all with unique properties.”

The G3, which was installed last month, will be used in the kitting department, where related items are grouped and packaged together as one.

I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.
