Heidelberg has released its figures for the first half of this financial year, showing incoming orders up by 6 percent, from €1,234 million to €1,306 million, with Heidelberg claiming that currency exchange rates have cost it around €17 million. Earlier this year Stratasys set up a new company, Evolve Additive Solutions, to develop a new approach to 3D printing called Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Process, or STEP. Two weeks ago I reported on the proposed acquisition of Global Graphics by Congra Software and I think this is worth a more detailed look if only to see some of the thinking that goes behind acquisitions like this.
Ricoh is set to buy LAC Corporation, which is said to have unique inkjet technology that supports printing on three-dimensional surfaces.
