Bobst to show new presses and die cutters

Bobst, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, has said that it will launch a number of new products at the forthcoming Drupa show, including new presses as well as several finishing devices.

Bobst will show a brand new version of the M6 UV flexo press, configured for folding carton production. This seven-colour press will use the Digital Flexo approach of high running speeds and high-speed in-line sheeting to offer job changeovers in under a minute. Bobst will also demonstrate extended colour gamut printing, using four or seven fixed colours, on new presses optimized for this.

The company will also show new CI flexo, in-line flexo, gravure and new digital printing presses, though Bobst has not shared many details on these yet. Hopefully this will include the project that Bobst has worked on with Kodak to develop a digital hybrid using the Stream continuous inkjet single pass print bar.

There will be a new Mastercut 106 PER die cutter and a new Masterfoil 106 PR hot-foil stamping press that uses the Foil Unwinder+ system, which Bobst claims can deliver up to 30% more press productivity while also cutting the amount of foil used by up to 50%. To complement these there will be a new folder-gluer boasting increased automation, shorter set-up times and lower running costs, which Bobst says will allow packaging manufacturers to realize ‘zero fault’ production.
