BigRep partners with Heidelberg

Heidelberg’s Digital Platforms division is to work with BigRep, building the Studio 3D printer that BigRep first unveiled a year ago at Formnext 2016. Since then the machine has been thoroughly tested and is now in production.

BigRep first announced its Studio 3D printer at last yearÕs Formnext show in Germany.

The Studio 3D devices will be built at Heidelberg’s Wiesloch-Walldorf plant, which is a world-class manufacturing facility where Heidelberg also builds its offset presses. The partnership agreement includes logistics for delivery to customers worldwide, including order management “as a service”, and is expected to result in a significant increase in efficiency. It’s a smart move that will help BigRep get the Studio 3D to market relatively quickly.

Josef Schell, Head of Digital Platforms at Heidelberg, commented: “With this cooperation, we’re contributing to the development of industrial 3D printing, as well as the digitalisation of traditional production processes.”

BigRep is best known for its large format 3D printers but the Studio is a smaller machine that’s meant to be used in smaller workspaces, such as studios or offices.

I generally charge around £150 per article but I’m open to discussing this for each title, particularly for publishers that want to use multiple stories. I can provide high res versions of images for print publications.

I’m used to working with overseas publishers and am registered for VAT with the UK’s HMRC tax authority but obviously won’t charge VAT to companies outside the UK. You can find further details and a licensing form from this page, or just contact me directly here.
