Apple website hacked

Apple has warned that its developer website was hacked last Thursday 18th July, prompting the company to take the site down completely whilst updating its server software and rebuilding its databases. There’s as yet no confirmation as to who carried out the attack or the purpose of it, although a Turkish researcher, Ibrahim Balic has claimed that he was simply demonstrating that the site was leaking user information.
According to Apple: “Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed.”
This doesn’t affect other Apple websites or the iTunes store. Nonetheless, it is good practice for anyone that does have an Apple developer account to change the password for it.
